Love at First Sight!

Today was our first ultrasound. We have both been so excited and nervous about this day coming. We had many thoughts leading up to today; Is there really anything in there?, How many are there (since there was a possibility of 3 due to the fertility drugs)?, Is it growing like it's supposed to?, Will we be able to really even see anything? Well, we got the answers to all those questions. Yes, there really is something in there. There is only 1 and it's right in the range that it's supposed to be for growth. And best of all... we were able to see it! We actually saw the heart beating today! Well, at first we couldn't see it until Abby, the wonderful nurse practioner who has been there from the beginning, pointed it out to us. It was so very tiny, but there it was... a little flicker on the monitor - Love at First Sight. We can't wait until we can see our baby again!

Our New Baby!

This year, we had a great deal to be thankful for because on Wednesday, November 26th (the day before Thanksgiving) we found out that we are going to have a baby! Baby Davis is due on August 7th, 2009 and, if he or she comes on time, the birthday will be shared with Great-Grammy Helen (Gary's grandmother)! So far, nothing has happened "as planned", so we'll se how this turns out :)

This news was a wonderful end to what has been a long and frustrating road to pregnancy. When we got married in 2004 we knew we wanted kids, but not for a while. About 2 years ago we began trying to start a family and realized this past summer, after consultations with a fertility specialist, that it would be very difficult for us to conceive naturally. As a result, we both underwent many tests and began treatments in October. Thanks to the help of the specialists and MANY prayers from friends and family we were able to conceive on our first round of treatment!

Until you realize that having a child will be a difficult process (or maybe an impossibility), you never know how much you want one or how much goes into making them! :) We are so very thankful that our infertility issues were easily solved, when compared to what they could have been, and that we will be welcoming a child of our very own soon!

God has blessed us with so much and we are incredibly thankful to Him, our family, and our friends who helped us through the difficult times and, we know, will continue to share with us in the happy ones to come. We are extremely excited as we look at the 9 months of pregnancy ahead of us; even Chester (our furry, four-legged child) has told us that he can't wait to be a big brother!

Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers .

Love,
The FOUR of us!
